Wood Blocking October 4th 2pm

WOOD BLOCKING PARTY!

It's set! We will be meeting at my house on October 4th at 2pm and my door will be open until we are done (but no later than 9-10pm).
We will be doing wood blocking. This creates a wide range of what you can do. Please look at my Pinterest page to see a few ideas. I'm not set on what I'm doing yet, but here are my top 3, just to give you an idea.

Details
  • RSVP ASAP
  • Please bring your own food/drinks/alcohol.
  • Remember your project and wood glue. I have a craft room filled with miscellaneous supplies that you can look through if you'd like (including paper that most of us will need)
  • This will be an open house format since we will all be working on different things. Patrice will be here teaching earlier in the day so if you need guidance please come close to 2pm.
  • Find a sitter if possible
  • If you are in Grantsville/Tooele area and want to go to SLC with me, or if you are in SLC and want to meet me at Wood Connection, please let me know when you can go.
If you haven't seen my other posts please click here for more information.

OH! And if you aren't following this page please do so. It makes it so much easier to communicate what is going on when I know you are getting the information. Also remember to share the web address (ladiesallday.blogspot.com) with any friends you want to come along with you. You can follow by clicking the blue "join this site" icon in the top right corner. (If you are on your phone click the link "view web version" toward the bottom of the page, then the "join this site" link in the top right corner.)

How about WOOD BLOCKING!

BEFORE YOU READ FURTHER!
Patrice will be volunteering her time to teach this Ladies Day. I know some of us get really nervous about joining in the fun because we simply have no idea how to do it. I promise Patrice will lead you (just like Amber did with painting). It will be a blast and you will love what you make! (and if you don't, you can start over... I'm going to re-do mine from last year)

I cannot wait to find a new project (and fix mine from last year!) I just might make something for my front porch... Perhaps a wreath with a giant letter or something to sit on my ladder for Winter??
1st we need to get the details together:
  • Who is coming? I will know if you are interested once you answer the rest of these questions.
  • Where are we doing this? Any volunteers for a space? I'm more than happy to have it at my house if y'all are willing to drive out to me. (It will be really convenient for a few of us that are already out here :) )
  • I'd like to do it before Halloween. Patrice and I have October 3rd, 4th, 5th, 12th, 17th, 18th open. I'd prefer to do it on a Saturday or Sunday since last year it took us the majority of the day to complete.
  • Let's plan on everyone packing a lunch/dinner for themselves (and probably a snack if you have more than 4 letters). Bring your own booze because we all know you'll have much more fun liquored up!
  • Have you looked online for ideas? I am planning on going to Wood Connection. If anyone wants to go along with me please let me know when you can meet or come with me to SLC. Hobby lobby is another good source for supplies.
Please contact me with answers. I will put it all together once I have an idea of where to start.
*This will be easier to complete without little people here. If you can't find a sitter please let me know ASAP. I may be able to accommodate if it's at my house.
I'm sure we will need tables/chairs too so if you have any you can bring please let me know.

If you didn't come or see what we did last year, click here for pre-party info and click here for results. This will also explain November's Pinterest Party Ladies Day. The pictures of our wood blocking is near the bottom. Look at Patrice's Boo! To die for!

If you want to check out some ideas go to my Pinterest page and look at the wood blocking board. Then hop over to wood connections website. (If you would like to be added to my Pinterest board let me know and I will add you so you can add pins. Also note that The Wood Connection store will have seasonal items. If you want to do something other than letters or seasonal you will need to order in advance)
We will have some supplies here to complete your project. If you want something specific you will need to get your own stuff. I have a bunch of stuff I can share so if you want to start your shopping trip at my house please get in touch with me. I do know that everyone will need clear wood glue. You can get this at any hardware store and it will last you years if all you do is wood blocking.

Look how cute this is!! These are all on The Wood Connections website. I didn't see a price for Harvest, but the rest are all under $15

Lets Plan Something!

I was walking around Home Depot last weekend and spotted the CUTEST planter boxes- for TWENTY DOLLARS!! I thought- I could make that for 1/2 the price- or less! So maybe in Spring we can get together and make planter boxes and fill them with herbs or whatever plant you'd like?  I want like 6 of these... Let me know if you want to do this or not?

Seeing that got me thinking about doing Ladies Day again. I'm ready for a wood-blocking party and then a Pinterest Party. Anyone interested in hosting? I'm sure y'all don't love driving to my house every time... I'm willing to do it at my house though.

September- Skip (because I'm swamped with family visiting, weddings and my anniversary).
October- Wood-Blocking Party
November- Pinterest Party just in time for Christmas gifts? Last year I completed all of Oakley's Christmas gifts on Pinterest day! And we ate VERY well!)
December- Christmas Party or Skip?
January- I can put something together if it's early in the month and if you are interested. I will not be able to host though. Maybe a movie night or dinner out? I think I can handle that at 9 months pregnant...
February- I will have a new baby so if everyone wants to get together let me know- I will post your details on here but I will not plan on attending.
March- I need ideas to fill in the rest.. Please send them to me. Anyone want to teach a class? What can you teach us? It doesn't have to be arts/crafts. I'd like a variety of things. Maybe a Salt Lake City scavenger hunt? Anything going on in Utah in March?

If you didn't come to the wood-blocking or Pinterest party last year here is a snapshot of both. Click here and if you want to see pictures of the Pinterest Party click here.

Please, Please give me your feedback! You can reach me in whatever way is easiest- text, email, comment on here, facebook... I just want to hear from you.

A Summer Off and Some Pictures!

Alright- I know you are as busy as I am during the summer so lets plan on taking a few months off. If there is something you have going on that you would like me to post, like a BBQ, a 5K or some sort of event, please let me know the details and I will happily post it for you.

Also, if you would like to host a Ladies Day I would appreciate knowing. Think about if you have access to anything like discounts or a dance studio or have a skill you can teach the group. I've had plenty of requests for Patrice to do the wood blocking party again and also a few for Color Me Mine that we haven't done in about 2 years. But I'm up for more than just artsy stuff. Lets plan on all going to a movie or learning how to cook together. Please help me put something together and let me know if we should start in August or September? (My sister is going to need help with decorations for her wedding. Maybe we can all get together and decorate mason jars with lace and burlap?)

Here are pictures of the last Ladies Night. We had a blast till like 3am! I cannot believe the creativity of this group! And next time we aren't voting on a painting because only a few even came close to the idea we all had when we showed up. Thank you to everyone who came all the way out here and a special thanks to Amber for bringing all the supplies and encouraging us to be creative without fear. It was a blast and an amazing turn out!

For some reason there are a few that won't upload. I'm pretty sure I got everyone though. If I missed anyone please let me know. I think it's a few group photos that aren't showing up right.

Until next time!

Cocktails and Canvas May 31st 4pm

If you have not received a food assignment please let me know ASAP! Everyone that has RSVP'd yes should have received theirs. Also- we are going to need a table or two. We still need 1 bag of rolls and a salad of any kind. If you can help with any of those items please let me know.

I will be going to buy my canvas in a few days. If you need one please let me know. I've had a few people ask me what size, I would say at least an 8x10- stretched canvas. I will be doing an 11x14. This shouldn't cost more than $5-6 before your coupon discount.

Getting close ladies! I'm so excited!

Please let me know if you have questions or concerns.

Thanks,
L

WE HAVE A WINNER!!! And food choices!

And the Winner Is.... Dun, Dun, Dun... #6!!

Start thinking about what you want your words to be- And no shame if you use the cute saying that is already on it! Also- measure the space where it will hang and go get your canvas! Wahoo! We are getting so close to doing this class!! (When buying your canvas remember to use a coupon. Hobby Lobby always has a 40% off online- You can pull it up on your phone while in line...)

As far as food goes- I want to make sure we have some things to keep us full as well as things that are easy to snack on. Here is what I'm thinking. If you have a different idea let me know.
Pick an item from the list below to bring. First come, First Serve kind of idea. I will post who got what once all items are checked off. Keep in mind that we may need more than one of each item. I will communicate with you while this is all happening. Facebook is fine, but it would be easier for me if you text.

The list:

Frozen Meatballs
Rolls (for the meatballs)
Spaghetti Sauce
Parmesan Cheese
Cheese Tray
Crackers
Salad of Any Kind (Pasta, Lettuce, Fruit...)
Chips & Dip
Dessert or Sweet of any kind
And everyone will need to bring whatever cocktail or drink you will be having for the night. I have a few juice mixers and may have some Pepsi on hand. And of course I will have water :)
RSVP's are a HUGE deal for this Ladies Night! If you haven't RSVP'd and are coming- Please let me know ASAP.
If you RSVP'd that you are coming and aren't- Please let me know ASAP.
If you RSVP'd a maybe- Please let me know ASAP if you are coming or not.

Thanks Ladies! I expect I will be hearing from all of you shortly :)

Cocktails & Canvas- May 31st 4pm *RSVP is a MUST and needed no later than May 21st*

Please RSVP no later than May 21st. If you have RSVP'd yes and need to change your attendance, please do so right away. We are buying supplies in advance for you and need an exact number so we can stay within budget. We will be asking for your $10 before we begin painting the day of. Please make sure to have cash in hand. You are responsible to buy your own canvas- in whatever size you choose. However, if requested we will pick up a canvas for you for an additional cost (you will not be able to choose the size).

We are also asking that no kids be in attendance. Because of the nature of what we are doing, painting- in my new house- with alcohol, I'd rather not have kiddos running around. If you want more information about this Ladies Day please click here to see my previous post

Cocktails and Canvas

Alright now that the business end is done! We have over 200 posts on the Cocktails and Canvas Pinterest Board! Great job ladies! I have picked the top 5 that were repined so we can vote on which we would like to paint. Before voting please think of a few things including:

What are you doing with your finished product? Think about where you want to hang it, who you want to give it to etc.

Do you want to have a quote or any wording? Dates? A special message? And if so, will it fit  with the painting?

The cost of your canvas- One of the top 5 has four canvases for the complete product (#1).

How much time will you have to commit to painting the day of? Is there enough time for the size  of canvas that you have chosen? (Any of them will take most of the night to complete)

And a little disclaimer- The end product will not be the same as the picture shown. The concept will be the same, but we will have an artist, Amber, recreate the idea in her own way. Then she will teach us and we can add our own colors, quotes, words, etc.

Just for fun I have added 3 additional pins that seemed to be a common theme in our choices. They are also up for a vote. There are EIGHT total paintings to vote from. If we have a tie, I will add the tied paintings and we will vote again. These are listed in no particular order.

You can send your vote to me via text, email, comment on here or through Facebook. You have until May 14th to send your vote. (My mom-in-laws birthday :))

Ready!?

Let the voting begin!

#3 Hope on a Wire

#4 Peacock Feather
