Card making/family pictures

I have everything ready for Sunday but I don't have any rsvp's for this event. Please let me know if you want to come. Any time is fine, I just need to know. Like I said before, I'm doing my cards anyway so it's no big deal to have supplies out.

2 More Days Till Our Pinterest Party! PLEASE RSVP TODAY

I love this party! Just in time for the holidays! I get to try a new recipe to share on Thanksgiving and make a craft to put out for either Fall or Winter! I still haven't narrowed either of those down, with only 2 days left... BUT I have a few ideas that I'd like to bring with.

If you need the address please RSVP and I will send it to you.
Here is the information in case you missed a previous post.

Pinterest Party Time!
Saturday, November 15th
Open House from 11am-5pm
Same place as last year

Here is how it works:

We will have an open house in Bountiful (When you RSVP I will let you know the address)  We will have plenty of food (see below about food) and some basic supplies to share.

Step by Step:
  • Log on to Pinterest.
  • Pick something you'd like to make from Pinterest! (Click here for our Pinterest board. Let me know if you haven't been added to it so you can pin as well)
  • Pick a food dish/drink that you'd like to try to make (Or you have already made, but found the recipe on Pinterest)
  • Make your dish/drink to pass at the party. (Plan on sharing with about 10-15 ladies)
  • Bring your supplies to complete your craft, your dish/drink, and plan a few hours to hang out.
  • Eat, socialize and create!
Sound like something you want to do?

What will already be there:

We will be providing some basic supplies like hot glue, but since the list of ideas is endless make sure you grab what you need or contact me if you think your supply is a basic and I will let you know if it's already covered. If you have some basics, like craft paper or beads, or maybe a bag of sugar or flour, and would like to share please let me know so I can pass along the information to others who may need your supply.  Think outside the box too- like do you have a Cricut machine or paint brushes? How about a those picture frames and old T-shirts you were going to donate?

I have a bunch of scrapbook paper, ribbon, stickers, scissors, fabric, sewing machine and accessories. I have a few random things like mirrors and tiny metal letters and paint. Please let me know if you want to come shopping in my craft room before the party.

Here are some ideas:

I'm pretty excited for this event! It's just in time to make some Christmas gifts for neighbors and friends!

If you 'd like more ideas hop over to our Pinterest board "Pinterest Party Ideas" and check out everything we have pinned in preparation for this party. I will add you to the board if you'd like.

Want to try photography!? The location we picked has plenty of places for poses. I will even bring my camera if you ask!

Ok so I'm not the best at sewing, but I have a sewing machine I can bring-  I know the basics and I'm sure someone else there can help too!

I will probably be creating some kind of home decoration since we just moved and I don't have anything for my front porch. Or maybe some towel hooks for the guest bathroom.

Don't know how to cook? Want to learn? My mom is a good cook and we will have a kitchen at the location! This means you can cover two birds, one stone. Your craft will be the meal you are going to share! Just make sure you have all the things you need. If you need an appliance give me a call ASAP so I can pack what isn't already in the kitchen.

That gets me thinking... What if I want to do a meal planning idea- you know, like a month of freezer meals... I might not be doing my towel hooks after all...

I'm getting too excited! I think it's time to start pinning! Oh and don't forget to RSVP!

I will see you November 15th!

* NO KIDS unless they are old enough to stay occupied with a craft. This location is not set up for kiddos.

Can't wait!

-L
Also, just a reminder about Sunday, December 7th. I will be offering FAMILY Christmas pictures in my home for just $10. Along with that we will have supplies for you to make your holiday cards while you wait to get your pictures taken. It will be an open house format, but I haven't come up with times yet. If you would like to make an appointment please let me know now.

If you haven't yet subscribed please click the blue "Join this site" button. It just means that you will get an email update when I add a new post.
Thanks!

November

8th- Paint Party. Amber is teaching an in-home class. Click here for details.
15th- Pinterest Party. Sue is hosting the 2nd annual Pinterest Party. Click here for details.

December

7th- Card Making/Picture Party. Leslie will be hosting. Details below.

Card Making/Picture Party
December 7th, 2014
Open House (Times TBD)
Kids/Families Welcome

Cards:
I have 4 cards as samples that you can recreate while you are here. Pictures of them are below. Your family is welcome to come help too! (How cute would it be to have you little ones make your Christmas cards this year!?) You do not have to use my samples, you can create whatever you would like.

The only thing you need to bring is:
Cards- I used 5x7. I got them, with envelopes, at Hobby Lobby after using 40% off coupon for about $4.

I have the rest of the supplies. But if you have any of the following it would help-
Scissors or a Paper Cutter
Glue Sticks or Glue Dots
Black Pens/Thin Black Markers
Buttons (all mine are colorful like in the picture below)
Card Stock in Red, Green, White or any generic color

If you would like to create something specific please provide your own specific supplies. We will be making cards with my scraps of paper and whatever ribbon, buttons etc. I have on hand.

Pictures:
I will have 2 spaces set up in my home (and an option for outdoors if the weather permits) for family pictures to be taken. I will have a sign up sheet when you walk in. While you are here making cards, I will come grab you and your family to take pictures when it's your turn. The cost will be $10 and will include a 15 minute mini session. If you are looking for a theme for your pictures, like ugly sweater, I will need to know ahead of time to accommodate any props needed. I will be doing all the editing of the pictures for free and will post them to a website where you can go grab them (the link will be private for your pictures). If you would rather bring a thumb drive I can edit and save to that instead. Turn around time on pictures should be about a week.

If you would like me to design (or teach you to make) your own digital cards we can set up a time to do so. The pricing will be determined per project and you will want to tell me ahead of time so that your cards can be mailed in time for the holidays.

Calendar for 2015
There are a few months still open. If you are interested in hosting please let me know and we can talk about details. My husband and I have been collecting pallets for a pallet party. He would be here to help with cutting and designing. Please let me know if you are interested in this idea for a party (Probably in the summer since it will mostly be cutting and painting outside)

January- OPEN
February- My Favorite Thing (Tierney)
March- Cocktails and Canvas (Amber)
April- OPEN
May- Planter Boxes (Sue)
June- OPEN
July- OPEN
August- OPEN

A Little History and Some IMPORTANT Questions I Need Answered. :)

This year has been HUGE for my webpage! Ladies are starting to show up like I had planned and we are getting some cool stuff done together! Now I need your help, along with your attendance to these memorable events, to blow up my blog!

A little background- I originally started this blog to make money. For each click on my webpage I was going to make a few pennies. I’d still like to make this happen but right now I just don’t have the traffic. Please follow ladiesallday.blogspot.com and look there for information whenever you can. I also encourage you to share this site with other ladies. (To follow click on the blue link "Join this site" in the top right hand corner)

Anyway- The point of writing and starting this website was to lift each other up as women instead of tearing each other down. I was inspired by Katie Couric and her talk show, that has now been cancelled (boo!) She is so positive and I was anxious to live that way, everyday. I wanted out of the gossip and wanted to hear and talk positively about others, no more drama! I originally started posting stories about accomplishments, small or big, that my friends had made in their lives and it made me feel good to know that even when you have to dig deep to find something wonderful about yourself, you could. Until very few people responded. I gave all these women a chance to tell me ONE thing they have done that they were proud of, even if it was just making it through the day without killing someone, and they had nothing to say.

So now I’m going to put you on the spot! I need you to answer some questions below because I really love having everyone show up and I really love something about every one of you (or soon will if we have not yet met). Some of this is basic, basic stuff, but I am going to ask you one thing about YOU that makes YOU feel proud. If you have to, ask friends who may be able to assist you to recognize what is amazing about you. And one day, I just might call on you to write a paragraph (or a novel if you are like me) so I can post about you. Everyone that comes to these ladies days will know how wonderful you are with that one thing and maybe it will spark a new friendship or just make you feel proud of yourself when you see it posted online.

Thank you in advance for doing this! I know for some this is a really hard thing to do.

And please- if you have questions or need guidance please ask me! I really want to make these days fun for everyone so every question is vital to our success.

Thanks so much!

-L

PS- A little trip to Sunday, December 7th. I know this is a BUSY time of year, but I know I need to get my address book updated and some holiday cards made in time to send them out. If you are interested in joining me so I'm not writing addresses alone, please let me know. I can help you make some cute storage for your address book so that you can find your addresses all year long and some homemade (or digital) cards together. AND I have a camera if you need family pictures taken. I can set up a scene in my house or we can take it outside. (I will need to know ahead of time what you are looking for) Let me know if you are interested.

Wood Blocking Results

We had a blast! Some ladies even finished more than one project! Thank you to everyone who made it out to share a day together!

Here are some pictures: (I did not get pictures of everyone! Please send me what you did! I know I'm missing at least 2 of you!)

I also did not take before and after pictures! I was so consumed with chatting and creating :) If you have any pictures from this day please send them my way.
Thanks!

Wood Blocking Update- Important to read all the way through!

I have had a lot more RSVP's than expected so we are going to change a few things around so it will make sense. If any of these changes cause a problem, or if you can volunteer anything, please let me know ASAP. We only have 5 more days! Wahoo!
Also- I realize this is a lot of info but please look through it so we are all on the same page.
Thanks!

Wood Blocking October 4th
2pm Open House closing at 10pm
My house

Changes:
  • Food. Instead of bringing your own food- Everyone bring 1 finger food/appetizer to pass (we have 15-20 people) Some examples- Salad, rolls, cheese/crackers, fruit, vegetables, chips/dip or just chips, something sweet... Think something we can snack on all day while we work. Please don't spend a lot of money!
  • Drinks. I will have cups for water but if you want anything else please bring your own. I expect many of you to be a bit tipsy... No kids, all girls... Just sayin'
Volunteers:
  • I need tables/chairs. I already have some but I may need more. If you have any please let me know.
  • Plastic for my floor. or paint blankets- or anything that can have paint/glue dropped on it that will keep it off my carpet.
  • Sandpaper. I have some sandpaper, but if you have any please bring it, even if its only 1 sheet for you. I'm not sure I will have enough for everyone.
  • Paint brushes/sponges. I bought some, but I won't have enough for everyone. Please bring what you are willing to share or just 1 or 2 for yourself.
  • Some girlies to help me set up. I will need you here around 1:30pm
What I have- free for the taking:
  • Paper. It's all a mish-mash. If you want something specific please bring your own.
  • Paint. I don't know if I have the colors you want, but I do have paint I can share.
  • Accessories. I have a bunch of scrapbook stuff you can look through and take what you want.
  • Wood. I have a bunch of random wood pieces (mostly scraps of 2x4's) My husband will be here early in the day to cut down to size if you are wanting anything from my pile.
  • Sandpaper. If you don't have your own.
What you definitely need to bring:
  • Your project (unless you are taking wood out of my scraps)
  • Your personalized accessories such as paper, decorations, paint, screws...
  • An idea of how you want your finished product to look (This is where Pinterest comes in handy!)
  • WOOD GLUE! This is not an item anyone is going to have extra of or be willing to share if they do. I got mine at Wood Craft (9891 South 500 West Sandy, UT 84070) *Picture of glue below. Other glue will work, but it may mess up your paper. (If you are not gluing anything to your project don't bother getting glue.)
  • Your dish to pass
  • Your own drinks
  • Anything you volunteered to bring
The wood glue Patrice suggests.

If you have questions/concerns or want pictures of what I already have:
  • I'm not posting my phone number here, but you can text me if you have/can get my #
  • Facebook message or comment on the event page
  • Comment on here (please subscribe to this website by clicking on the blue join this site button at the top right of this page)

WOOD BLOCKING PARTY!

It's set! We will be meeting at my house on October 4th at 2pm and my door will be open until we are done (but no later than 9-10pm).
We will be doing wood blocking. This creates a wide range of what you can do. Please look at my Pinterest page to see a few ideas. I'm not set on what I'm doing yet, but here are my top 3, just to give you an idea.

Details
  • RSVP ASAP
  • Please bring your own food/drinks/alcohol.
  • Remember your project and wood glue. I have a craft room filled with miscellaneous supplies that you can look through if you'd like (including paper that most of us will need)
  • This will be an open house format since we will all be working on different things. Patrice will be here teaching earlier in the day so if you need guidance please come close to 2pm.
  • Find a sitter if possible
  • If you are in Grantsville/Tooele area and want to go to SLC with me, or if you are in SLC and want to meet me at Wood Connection, please let me know when you can go.

OH! And if you aren't following this page please do so. It makes it so much easier to communicate what is going on when I know you are getting the information. How about WOOD BLOCKING!

BEFORE YOU READ FURTHER!
Patrice will be volunteering her time to teach this Ladies Day. I know some of us get really nervous about joining in the fun because we simply have no idea how to do it. I promise Patrice will lead you (just like Amber did with painting). It will be a blast and you will love what you make! (and if you don't, you can start over... I'm going to re-do mine from last year)

I cannot wait to find a new project (and fix mine from last year!) I just might make something for my front porch... Perhaps a wreath with a giant letter or something to sit on my ladder for Winter??
1st we need to get the details together:
  • Who is coming? I will know if you are interested once you answer the rest of these questions.
  • Where are we doing this? Any volunteers for a space? I'm more than happy to have it at my house if y'all are willing to drive out to me. (It will be really convenient for a few of us that are already out here :) )
  • I'd like to do it before Halloween. Patrice and I have October 3rd, 4th, 5th, 12th, 17th, 18th open. I'd prefer to do it on a Saturday or Sunday since last year it took us the majority of the day to complete.
  • Let's plan on everyone packing a lunch/dinner for themselves (and probably a snack if you have more than 4 letters). Bring your own booze because we all know you'll have much more fun liquored up!
  • Have you looked online for ideas? I am planning on going to Wood Connection. If anyone wants to go along with me please let me know when you can meet or come with me to SLC. Hobby lobby is another good source for supplies.
Please contact me with answers. I will put it all together once I have an idea of where to start.
*This will be easier to complete without little people here. If you can't find a sitter please let me know ASAP. I may be able to accommodate if it's at my house.
I'm sure we will need tables/chairs too so if you have any you can bring please let me know.

If you didn't come or see what we did last year, click here for pre-party info and click here for results. This will also explain November's Pinterest Party Ladies Day. The pictures of our wood blocking is near the bottom. Look at Patrice's Boo! To die for!

If you want to check out some ideas go to my Pinterest page and look at the wood blocking board. Then hop over to wood connections website. (If you would like to be added to my Pinterest board let me know and I will add you so you can add pins. Also note that The Wood Connection store will have seasonal items. If you want to do something other than letters or seasonal you will need to order in advance)
We will have some supplies here to complete your project. If you want something specific you will need to get your own stuff. I have a bunch of stuff I can share so if you want to start your shopping trip at my house please get in touch with me. I do know that everyone will need clear wood glue. You can get this at any hardware store and it will last you years if all you do is wood blocking.

Look how cute this is!! These are all on The Wood Connections website. I didn't see a price for Harvest, but the rest are all under $15

Lets Plan Something!

I was walking around Home Depot last weekend and spotted the CUTEST planter boxes- for TWENTY DOLLARS!! I thought- I could make that for 1/2 the price- or less! So maybe in Spring we can get together and make planter boxes and fill them with herbs or whatever plant you'd like?  I want like 6 of these... Let me know if you want to do this or not?

Seeing that got me thinking about doing Ladies Day again. I'm ready for a wood-blocking party and then a Pinterest Party. Anyone interested in hosting? I'm sure y'all don't love driving to my house every time... I'm willing to do it at my house though.

September- Skip (because I'm swamped with family visiting, weddings and my anniversary).
October- Wood-Blocking Party
November- Pinterest Party just in time for Christmas gifts? Last year I completed all of Oakley's Christmas gifts on Pinterest day! And we ate VERY well!)
December- Christmas Party or Skip?
January- I can put something together if it's early in the month and if you are interested. I will not be able to host though. Maybe a movie night or dinner out? I think I can handle that at 9 months pregnant...
February- I will have a new baby so if everyone wants to get together let me know- I will post your details on here but I will not plan on attending.
March- I need ideas to fill in the rest.. Please send them to me. Anyone want to teach a class? What can you teach us? It doesn't have to be arts/crafts. I'd like a variety of things. Maybe a Salt Lake City scavenger hunt? Anything going on in Utah in March?

If you didn't come to the wood-blocking or Pinterest party last year here is a snapshot of both. Click here and if you want to see pictures of the Pinterest Party click here.

A Summer Off and Some Pictures!

Alright- I know you are as busy as I am during the summer so lets plan on taking a few months off. If there is something you have going on that you would like me to post, like a BBQ, a 5K or some sort of event, please let me know the details and I will happily post it for you.

Also, if you would like to host a Ladies Day I would appreciate knowing. Think about if you have access to anything like discounts or a dance studio or have a skill you can teach the group. I've had plenty of requests for Patrice to do the wood blocking party again and also a few for Color Me Mine that we haven't done in about 2 years. But I'm up for more than just artsy stuff. Lets plan on all going to a movie or learning how to cook together. Please help me put something together and let me know if we should start in August or September? (My sister is going to need help with decorations for her wedding. Maybe we can all get together and decorate mason jars with lace and burlap?)

Here are pictures of the last Ladies Night. We had a blast till like 3am! I cannot believe the creativity of this group! And next time we aren't voting on a painting because only a few even came close to the idea we all had when we showed up. Thank you to everyone who came all the way out here and a special thanks to Amber for bringing all the supplies and encouraging us to be creative without fear. It was a blast and an amazing turn out!

For some reason there are a few that won't upload. I'm pretty sure I got everyone though. If I missed anyone please let me know. I think it's a few group photos that aren't showing up right.

Until next time!
